PyeongChang, March 13, 2018 – The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will reach its midway point on Wednesday, with the Canadian Paralympic Team looking to add to its medal count.
• It’s down to the second-last event of Para alpine skiing, as the men’s and women’s Giant slalom races take place at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre. Each racer will have two runs on the course, with the first starting at 9:30 a.m. local time/8:30 p.m. Tuesday ET and the second commencing at 2 p.m. local time/1 a.m. ET. Canada has hit the podium in each Para alpine discipline in PyeongChang so far for a total of six medals, and will look to keep the streak alive on Wednesday.
• At the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, the cross-country sprint races on are on the docket, starting at 10 a.m. local time/9 p.m. Tuesday ET with the qualifications, leading into the semifinals and finals which start just after 1 p.m. local time/12 a.m. ET. The sit skiers will be racing a 1.1KM sprint with the standing and visually impaired racers sprinting 1.5KM. Brian McKeever, who earlier this week became Canada’s most decorated Winter Paralympian with his 14th medal, will be among the athletes back in action as will two-time PyeongChang medallist Mark Arendz.
• Just two days of round-robin action remain at the curling rink with the Canadian team facing off versus the Neutral Paralympic Athletes at 2:35 p.m. local time/1:35 a.m. ET and then Slovakia at 7:35 p.m. local time/6:35 a.m. ET. Canadians Mark Ideson, Marie Wright, Ina Forrest, and Dennis Thiessen currently sit in third place, with the top four teams making the semifinals on Friday.
