To celebrate the remarkable performances of the Canadian Paralympic Team at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Petro-Canada has teamed up with the Paralympic Foundation of Canada (PFC) to amplify the ‘Let’s Go Canada’ spirit. Through a unique contribution to the IGNITE The Light virtual seats initiative, they are offering supporters the chance to double their impact.

With Canadian Paralympians excelling on the track, field, pool, courts, and more – earning 25 medals to date – there has never been a better time to show your support for these incredible Canadians. Thanks to Petro-Canada, a proud partner of the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), you can make a difference.

Petro-Canada has pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations for virtual seats as part of the IGNITE The Light campaign. So far, this initiative has raised over $345,000, which will help fuel the future of Para sport development in Canada.

Dave Fath, GM, Petro-Canada Brand Marketing, Suncor was pleased to share the exciting news about this unique match funding opportunity, which will encourage more supporters across the nation to contribute to the campaign.

“We are so proud of the Canadian Paralympic Team at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The Team’s achievements over these past two weeks have been incredible to watch, and we are inspired by how Canadians have celebrated their national Paralympic Team.” Dave Fath shared.

“As proud Partners of the CPC, we wanted to add some extra fuel to the IGNITE The Light initiative by matching donations throughout Closing Ceremony Day. It’s our way of encouraging Canadians to rally behind our athletes – Let’s Go Canada!”

You can join Petro-Canada and the Canadian Paralympic Team in removing barriers to sport and promoting a more inclusive society by purchasing your $25 virtual seat in the IGNITE The Light initiative. With the Closing Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games fast approaching, there’s still time to make a meaningful impact. Thanks to Petro-Canada’s generous matching offer, your donation will go even further, doubling the support for future Canadian Paralympians.

The IGNITE The Light campaign offers Canadians a unique way to rally behind their Paralympic athletes by purchasing virtual seats to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. While fans may not be able to attend the Games in person, they can still be part of the action by buying a virtual seat for $25. Each seat purchased symbolizes a fan’s presence at the Games, sending a powerful message to Canadian athletes that they have a nation of supporters cheering them on—not only from Canada but around the world.

Funds raised through this campaign directly support Canadian Paralympians by providing them with the necessary resources, training, and support systems to compete at the highest level. The campaign is more than just a fundraiser, it’s a way to foster a sense of community and collective support for the athletes who proudly wear the maple leaf.

Canadians are invited to be part of this historic initiative by purchasing virtual seats here, sharing their participation on social media, and encouraging friends and family to join in. Together, Canadians can illuminate the virtual stadium with the collective energy and pride of the nation.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will conclude with the Closing Ceremony on September 8. Audiences can tune in for CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony September 8 on CBC, CBC Gem, CBC’s Paris 2024 website (cbc.ca/paris2024) and the CBC Paris 2024 app in English and on ICI TÉLÉ, ICI TOU.TV, Radio-Canada.ca/paris2024, and on the Radio-Canada Paralympiques app in French.
