Milano Cortina 2026 Day 9 Preview: Canada to face off in Para ice hockey gold-medal game on final day of Games

Cortina, Italy, March 14, 2026 – The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will come to an end on Sunday, but before the Closing Ceremony there is still plenty of exciting competition on the field of play. Canada will be in action in Para cross-country skiing and Para alpine skiing before facing off for gold in the Para ice hockey final. Below is a run-down of Day 9 action for the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team on Sunday March 15:
Para Ice Hockey
Canada will take on rivals USA for the title of Paralympic champion once again. This is the third consecutive meeting between the two nations for gold, with the U.S. coming out on top at the past two Games. Canada is looking for its first Paralympic title since 2006. The puck drops at 4:05 p.m. local time / 11:05 a.m. ET.
Para Nordic Skiing – Para Cross-Country
The final day of racing in Para cross-country will see athletes racing in the 20km distance. Fourteen Canadians on the Para nordic skiing squad will line up at the start line.
Christina Picton and Lyne-Marie Bilodeau in the women’s sitting category will start the day for Canada at 9 a.m. local time / 4 a.m. ET followed by Collin Cameron, Derek Zaplotinsky, and Leo Sammarelli in the men’s sitting.
Natalie Wilkie, Brittany Hudak, and Emma Archibald will then race in the women’s standing at 10:45 a.m. local time / 5:45 a.m. ET.
At 12:20 p.m. local time / 7:20 a.m. ET, it will be Maddie Mullin and guide Brooke Ailey’s turn in the women’s visually impaired before competition ends with Logan Lariviere and guide Joe Hutton and Jesse Bachinsky and guide Levi Nadlersmith in the men’s visually impaired race.
Para Alpine Skiing
Kalle Eriksson and guide Sierra Smith and Kurt Oatway will close out Para alpine skiing racing for Canada with the men’s slalom races. Eriksson and Smith with compete in the visually impaired event with Oatway in the sitting category. First runs start at 9 a.m. local time / 4 a.m. ET with second runs at 12 p.m. local time / 7 a.m. ET.
