Milano Cortina 2026 Day 5 Preview: Canada competing in Para cross-country skiing and wheelchair curling

Cortina, Italy, March 10, 2026 – The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will hit its midway point on Wednesday, and it’s a quieter day for Canada with athletes set to compete in just two sports – Para cross-country skiing and wheelchair curling. Below is a run-down of Day 5 action for the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team on Wednesday March 11:   

Para Nordic Skiing – Para Cross Country  
Canada’s Para cross-country skiers return for another day of racing at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium in the Val di Fiemme region. Fourteen athletes will be in competition.  

Canada’s sit skiers will start things off at 9:45 a.m. local time / 4:45 a.m. ET, with Christina Picton and Lyne-Marie Bilodeau in the women’s event followed by Collin Cameron, Leo Sammarelli, and Derek Zaplotinsky in the men’s.  

Next up will be the standing categories, with Emma Archibald and Brittany Hudak in the women’s race at 11:05 a.m. local time / 6:05 a.m. ET then 13-time Paralympic medallist Mark Arendz in the men’s.  

Rounding out the day will be Maddie Mullin and guide Brooke Ailey in the women’s visually impaired category at 12:25 p.m. local time / 7:25 a.m. ET followed by Jesse Bachinsky and guide Levi Nadlersmith and Logan Lariviere and guide Joe Hutton in the men’s visually impaired.  

Wheelchair Curling 
Only two days remain in wheelchair curling preliminary play, and Canada has three games to go. On Wednesday, the team will take on Slovakia at 8:05 p.m. local time / 3:05 p.m. ET. Canada, bronze medallists four years ago, is currently first in the round-robin with a record of 6-0. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals.
