Milano Cortina 2026 Day 4 Preview: Para nordic skiers line up for first Para cross-country races
Canada wraps up round-robin play in Para ice hockey, continues in wheelchair curling and alpine combined races up next for Para alpine skiers
Cortina, Italy, March 9, 2026 – Four sports are on the schedule at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games on Tuesday, with Canada set for its first races in Para cross-country skiing. Paralympic viewers can also look forward to Para alpine skiing, wheelchair curling, and Para ice hockey. Below is a run-down of Day 4 action for the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Paralympic Team on Tuesday March 10:
Para Alpine Skiing
It is alpine combined day at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo, with racers utilizing their skills in the speed and technical disciplines. Athletes will race in the super-G in the morning, starting at 9 a.m. local time / 4 a.m. ET followed by the slalom in the afternoon at 1 p.m. local time / 8 a.m. ET.
On the schedule for Canada are now two-time Paralympic medallists Kalle Eriksson and guide Sierra Smith in the men’s visually impaired, Michaela Gosselin in the women’s standing, and Kurt Oatway in the men’s sitting.
Para Nordic Skiing – Para Cross Country
Canada’s Para nordic skiers will take to the course for the first Para cross-country races of the Games. Tuesday is sprint day, and it will be a busy one for the Canadians with 13 team members in action, including Milano Cortina 2026 gold and silver medallist Natalie Wilkie and silver medallist Mark Arendz.
Six athletes will make their Paralympic debuts: Emma Archibald in the women’s standing, Jesse Bachinsky and guide Levi Nadlersmith as well as Logan Lariviere and guide Joe Hutton in the men’s visually impaired, and Leo Sammarelli in the men’s sitting.
Lyne-Marie Bilodeau, a 2022 Paralympian, will cross the start line for her first race of the Games in the women’s sitting.
Also in competition are Wilkie in the women’s standing, Arendz in the men’s standing, Christina Picton in the women’s sitting, Collin Cameron in the men’s sitting, and Maddie Mullin and guide Brooke Ailey in the women’s visually impaired.
Qualification races start at 9:45 a.m. local time / 4:45 a.m. ET with the women’s sitting followed by each respective category. Racers will try to advance to the semifinals and finals. The medal events kick off at 1:22 p.m. local time / 8:22 a.m. ET.
Wheelchair Curling
It’s a big day for Canada’s 4-0 wheelchair curling squad, with two preliminary games on the schedule Tuesday – 9:35 a.m. local time / 4:35 a.m. ET versus China and 6:35 p.m. local time / 1:35 p.m. ET against Sweden. China (gold), Sweden (silver), and Canada (bronze) were the podium finishers at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games and are currently the top three nations in the round-robin.
Para Ice Hockey
Canada’s Para ice hockey team will aim to wrap up round-robin play with a perfect 3-0 record and a spot in the semifinals as the team faces Czechia at 5:05 p.m. local time / 12:05 p.m. ET.
