The exclusive broadcast rights for the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Canada awarded to CBC/Radio-Canada.

Canadian Paralympian Katie Combaluzier competes in the slalom event at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, navigating a gate at the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Centre in a black sit-ski, wearing a red race bib and black helmet.

Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 has confirmed the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will be shown exclusively in Canada by CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcaster.

CBC/Radio-Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Paralympic Committee, will provide extensive broadcast coverage across television, digital, audio and social platforms.

The announcement from Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, also acknowledged Globo as the official broadcast partner to audiences across Brazil.

Andrea Varnier, CEO of Milano Cortina 2026 said: “Partnering with CBC/Radio-Canada and Globo marks a significant milestone on the road to the Paralympic Winter Games of Milano Cortina 2026. In both countries, the Paralympic Movement is a constant source of inspiration and an engine for social change.

“Together, we will bring a high-performance sporting spectacle into the homes of millions of Brazilians and Canadians, contributing to an unforgettable viewing experience. Through their coverage, audiences will be able to follow all the action from disciplines like Para ice hockey, Para alpine skiing, wheelchair curling, Para snowboard, Para cross-country, and Para biathlon, as well as the stories of resilience behind every athlete.”

More than 11 million Canadians tuned in to CBC/Radio-Canada’s extensive broadcast coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games over 12 days, with record increases noted across broadcast, digital and streaming platforms, illustrating increased interest in Paralympic competition in Canada.

For Paris 2024, the national public broadcaster offered the most coverage in Canada of a Paralympic Games to date, inviting audiences across the country to cheer on Team Canada’s 126 athletes in 18 sports and celebrate a total of 29 podium finishes.

Marie-Philippe Bouchard, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada, said: “I’m pleased CBC/Radio-Canada will serve as Canada’s Paralympic Network at Milano Cortina 2026. Eleven million Canadians watched CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and we will build on the growing enthusiasm for Para sport at these next Paralympic Games. I know audiences will delight in cheering on Team Canada.”

CBC/Radio-Canada has been broadcasting the Paralympic Games in partnership with the Canadian Paralympic Committee since 2014.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will take place from 6-15 March 2026 and will mark the 50th anniversary of the event.

The Games will feature up to 655 Para athletes competing in 79 medal events across six sports: Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling.

For the first time since its Paralympic debut 20 years ago, wheelchair curling will feature a second medal event in Milano Cortina 2026 with the inclusion of mixed pairs.

According to Nielsen Sports research conducted on behalf of the International Paralympic Committee, more than 1,900 hours of coverage was broadcast from the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.
