Strong second run propels first time Paralympian to second medal

BEIJING – Tyler Turner completed a remarkable Paralympic Winter Games debut on Friday with a bronze medal in the men’s SB-LL1 banked slalom at Beijing 2022.

Zhongwei Wu of China posted the two fastest times on the day, with his best one clocking one minute and 10.85 seconds while Chris Vos of the Netherlands took the silver in 1:12.06.

Turner, the 33-year-old from Campbell River, B.C., was sixth after the first run but came roaring back on the second improving to 1:12.84.

It was the second medal of the Games for Turner, the winner in the snowboard cross earlier this week.
