Sit skier finishes third in 18-kilometre cross country race

BEIJING – Collin Cameron of Bracebridge, Ont. won the bronze medal on Sunday in the men’s 18-kilometre cross country sit skiing race at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.

It was his fourth career bronze medal at the Games after reaching the podium three times four years ago in PyeongChang. However it was his first medal in this specific event after placing fifth in 2018.

Zheng Peng led China to a 1-2 finish in 43 minutes and 9.2 seconds with Mao Zhongwu  second in 43:23.8. Cameron, wearing a short sleeve shirt under the sunny skies at Zhangjiakou National Biathlon Centre, clocked the six-lap race in 47:36.6.

Derek Zaplotinsky of Smoky Lake, Alta. was 13th and Ethan Hess of Pemberton B.C. was 18th.
