[MEDAL ALERT] Brian McKeever opens sixth Paralympic Winter Games with gold

BEIJING – Brian McKeever’s legendary career continued Sunday as the 42-year-old from Canmore, Alta. won the gold medal in the men’s visually impaired 20 kilometre cross country race at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.

McKeever, racing with his guide Russell Kennedy, showed why he is Canada’s most successful winter Paralympian dominating the race clocking 55 minutes and 36.7 seconds, showing no fatigue as he crossed the finish line.

Jake Adicoff and his guide Sam Wood of the U.S. took the silver in 58:54.4 and Sweden’s Zebastian Modin and guide Emil Haag Joensson were third in 1:00:05.4.

It was McKeever’s 14 career gold medal and 18th overall in six Games appearances dating back to 2002 in Salt Lake City.
