Mark Arendz wins silver for Canada in men’s standing individual biathlon event

Mark Arendz claimed silver in the standing individual biathlon at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games on Sunday, March 8 at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium in Val di Fiemme, Italy.

Arendz, the Para nordic skiing legend, finished the 12.5km race in 30 minutes 52.5 seconds just after China’s Jiayun Cai who won gold for the second time in two days. Marco Maier earned bronze for Germany.

The silver is Arendz’s 13th Paralympic medal and Canada’s sixth medal at the 2026 Winter Games.

Mark Arendz is a Hartsville, Prince Edward Island Para nordic athlete competing in his fifth Paralympic Games. He is one of Canada’s most decorated Paralympic athletes.
