With the return of family and friends cheering in person for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) will be hosting special events at Canada Paralympic House, located at the Canadian Cultural Centre at the Embassy of Canada to France.

Canada Paralympic House will be an events-based venue, open for four evenings during the Paralympic Games: August 31, September 3, 6, and 7. The events will be open for invited and registered guests, including family and friends, members of the Canadian Paralympic Team, CPC partners and donors, media, and other supporters.

“It’s a great honour to welcome the Canada Paralympic House, its extraordinary athletes, families and friends at the Embassy of Canada to France, at the Canadian Cultural Centre,” said The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Ambassador to France and Monaco, and Special Envoy to the European Union and Europe. “‘Games Wide Open!’ to quote the motto of the Paris 2024 Games. Good luck to Team Canada!”

“We are so thrilled to be working with the Embassy of Canada to France,” said Karen O’Neill, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “The embassy has been a superb partner in being able to bring to life a home to welcome the Canadian Paralympic Team and its families and supporters. It will be the perfect venue to connect our community in Paris and celebrate all of the athletes and their achievements.”

Each of the four event evenings will feature an Athletes Celebration presented by Canadian Tire, special presentations to honour the accomplishments of the Canadian Paralympic Team and hear about the athletes’ experiences at the Games. Each Athletes Celebration, which will be hosted in both official languages by three-time Paralympian Camille Bérubé, will feature different sport teams, athletes, and programming.

The space itself will be a vibrant, unifying home away from home, featuring a mixture of indoor and outdoor reception areas with a full Canadian look-and-feel, where family and friends can mix and mingle and watch live Games footage. The Let’s Go Lounge presented by Petro-Canada, a Suncor business, will allow guests to record their cheers and messages of support for the Canadian Paralympic Team. The Canadian Cultural Centre will also feature a special art exhibit created for Paris 2024. Designed by artist Clive Holden, the art uses archival images from past Games and celebrates athletic movements. Guests attending the four event evenings will be able to visit the exhibition.

New for this summer’s Games, CPC will also welcome Jim and Deb Westlake as CPC Family Ambassadors, for both Paris 2024 and Milano-Cortina 2026.

The Westlakes, parents to five-time Paralympian Greg Westlake (Para ice hockey), have been one of the most prolific supporters of Paralympic sport in Canada over many years, including a transformational gift of $1 million to the Paralympic Foundation of Canada in 2020. They will be present at all four Canada Paralympic House evenings, and also will be sharing their expertise as longtime family members of a Paralympian and multiple Games attendees through direct communication to family and friends.

More information for family, friends and supporters to register to attend the Canada Paralympic House events at the embassy will be shared closer to the Games. Please visit Paralympic.ca/family-and-friends for all the latest information on CPC’s Family and Friends program.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will begin with the Opening Ceremony on August 28 and continue through September 8, with coverage of the Games on CBC and CBC Sports. Canada is expecting to send a team of approximately 140 athletes. The current list of nominated athletes can be found HERE.
