Ottawa, June 19, 2018 – The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities announced today stronger measures to eliminate harassment, abuse, and discrimination in the Canadian sport system.

“The Canadian Paralympic Committee applauds Minister Duncan’s actions towards eliminating harassment, abuse, and discrimination in sport and we 100 per cent stand behind the new measures. We are steadfastly committed to abuse-free sport and an environment built on respect and equal opportunity. As an athlete-centered organization, the safety and security of our athletes is our top priority and we will continue to work with our sport partners to support them. Sport has the power to forge connections and be a positive force for so many people, but critically, it must first offer a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.”
