Canada closed out men’s round robin play with win over Argentina
In men’s 5×5 wheelchair basketball, Canada closed out round robin play with a 51–42 come-from-behind victory over Argentina on Wednesday.
Paced by a team-high 17 points, seven assists, and six rebounds from Ibrahim Odza, Canada overcame a sluggish start, outscoring Argentina 28-15 over the final two quarters to book a spot in Thursday’s semifinals against Brazil (5:30 p.m. EST). The match can be streamed live on the Americas Paralympic Committee YouTube page.
“Definitely not the start we wanted, and it was not what we had experienced all week,” said head coach Darrell Nordell. “We had to claw our way back with good defence and chip in baskets from different spots and athletes throughout the game.
“Looking ahead to the semifinals, we can’t let this game bother us.”
