Canada caps Para athletics worlds with four medal weekend including two gold
Canada concludes event with nine medals ( three gold, one silver and five bronze)
NEW DELHI (Athletics Canada) Nate Tucker is known for his strong finishes. On the last day of the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, he capped a memorable Championships for Team Canada with a gold medal in the men’s T38 1500m title in a new Championship Record time of 3:57.98.
“It’s all about my team, it’s not about me. My coach, Heather, is the best coach in the world. My sister texted me. My wife is the reason why I can stay safe, be good on the last day. I think I caught them by surprise a little bit because I was so patient. Usually I look back hundreds ago, but today it’s going as fast as you can.
Teammate Liam Stanley was 9th in the race, crossing the line in a time of 4:07.31.
Marissa Papaconstantinou scored Canada’s first silver medal of the Championships and her second medal overall in New Delhi, finishing 2nd in the women’s T64 200 metres with a time of 27.07 seconds.
“I’m elated I finally upgraded from bronze. I didn’t love the time, but it really doesn’t matter. When you’re in championship racing, it’s just a matter of fighting to the finish and I think I did that today. I’m happy to be coming home with another medal at this Championship,” she said.
Austin Smeenk added a second bronze medal to his 2025 World Para Athletics Championships tally, placing 3rd in the men’s T34 800 metres final with a time of 1:40.50.

On Saturday, No one was going to beat Anthony Bouchard.
Bouchard made history on route to his T52 100 metres title at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships today, crossing the line in a time of 16.95 seconds.
“I followed the plan I had this morning. We worked on mental preparation, and she really told me to race my own race. I shut myself off. I didn’t focus on what was happening around me. Then I raced my race,” the newly-minted world champion said. “I couldn’t really leave out any details. I knew that I was getting faster and faster, but so were they.”
Bouchard powered into the final in this morning’s session, with a new season’s best, personal best, and World Para Athletics Championships record time of 16.78 seconds.
“To be honest, I knew I had that in me. But with all the conditions we have here, the heat, the air pollution, I had some doubts. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I’m really, really happy with the result, but I couldn’t let my performance in the morning give me too much confidence,” Bouchard said.
