At the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Sarah Mehain took silver in the S7 50-m butterfly.
At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Mehain competed in five events, making the finals in three of them. Mehain made the finals in the 50-m butterfly (4th), 200-m individual medley (5th) and 50-m freestyle (7th).
She enhanced her medal collection in 2015 with sparkling performances at the IPC Para Swimming World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland and the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games.
In Glasgow, she capped three top-five performances with a bronze in the 50-m butterfly. In Toronto, she marched to the podium four times including the top step for her 50-m butterfly win.
Mehain was Canada’s busiest swimmer at the 2013 IPC World Championships in Montreal, competing in six individual events. The highlight was a bronze medal, her first major international podium finish, in the 100-m backstroke. At her first Paralympic Games in London in 2012 she reached the final in four of her six events.

PERSONAL
Mehain has cerebral palsy and is hemiplegic, which causes one side of her body to be weaker than the other, and not as coordinated…Her sisters Heather and Hannah have both competed at world junior level in cross-country skiing.
