Para alpine skier Florence Carrier made her World Cup debut late last season and posted three top-10 results in five races in Veysonnaz, Switzerland including a fourth place in the slalom.
A specialist in technical events, slalom and giant slalom, Carrier competed at three World Cups in the 2025-26 season leading up to the Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina. Her best result was an eighth in slalom in Feldberg, Germany.
Born with a foot malformation, Carrier underwent a below knee amputation on her right leg at nine months and was fitted with her first prothesis at 13 months. She learned to walk and by age three was already introduced to adapted skiing.
Raised in an active family in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, Carrier tried numerous sports growing up including triathlon, swimming, cycling and baseball. But it was in alpine skiing that she progressed the fastest.
She raced with Team Quebec at the U18 level and earned two gold medals at the 2023 Canada Winter Games. Carrier later joined the Para alpine development team before promotion to the main national squad in 2024-25.
She is also a longtime spokesperson for the War Amps.
