Dominic Cozzolino is a key figure in Canadian Para ice hockey, known for his scoring touch, leadership, and dedication on and off the ice. Since helping Canada win gold at the 2017 World Para Ice Hockey Championship, he has contributed to silver medals at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games and the 2019, 2021, and 2023 world championships.

After stepping away during the 2021–22 season to focus on his mental and physical well-being, Cozzolino returned with renewed purpose.

His comeback was highlighted by a stellar performance at the 2024 World Championships in Calgary, where Canada claimed its first world title in seven years. Named the tournament’s top forward, he posted 17 points in five games, including the opening goal in the 2–1 gold-medal win over the United States.

He also led Canada in scoring at the 2023 Worlds, finishing fourth overall as Canada earned silver.

Cozzolino began playing Para ice hockey in 2012 after a spinal cord injury in 2009, sustained when he was checked from behind in a minor hockey game, fracturing his L1 and L2 vertebrae. Though ambulatory, he transitioned to sledge hockey with the Mississauga Cruisers and quickly rose through the ranks.

Off the ice, Cozzolino is committed to community impact. He is an ambassador for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, supports Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, and works with TELUS’s End Bullying campaign.

In 2025, he began an internship with the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s partnerships team and serves as chairperson of the World Para Ice Hockey Sport Athletes Committee, shaping the sport’s global future.

A central figure on Canada’s National Team, Cozzolino remains focused on leading his country to gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
