Cody Fournie won the silver medal in the men’s T51 100-m wheelchair race at the 2024 World Championships in Kobe, Japan. The performance was also worth a Paralympic Games quota spot for Canada.

At the 2023 worlds in Paris, he finished fifth in the T51 100m and set a new personal best for sixth in the T51 200m.

Fournie became a quadriplegic through an accident at just 11 years old. Growing up, there wasn’t a whole lot of opportunities to express himself through sport. That was until he discovered wheelchair rugby in 2010.

He was a member of Canada’s national wheelchair rugby program for several years before switching to wheelchair racing.
