Brian McKeever wins gold for Canada

- McKeever captures 11th Paralympic gold medal and 14th overall
- Canada now has seven medals through three days
- Para ice hockey team wraps up preliminary action with 3-0 record

PyeongChang, March 12, 2018 – The Canadian Paralympic Team added another gold to its medal haul at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games on Monday, as Opening Ceremony flag bearer Brian McKeever continued to make history with his 14th Paralympic medal.  

Canadian curlers drop first games of Paralympic Games

 

Elite athletes live for the feeling of being in “the zone” - the sensation where your peak performance is on auto-pilot, every result is perfect, and you can’t miss.

For Canada’s wheelchair curlers, it must have felt like they were just a few inches outside of “the zone.”

“You know, some days you’re one with the rock. Other days, it’s like your two completely different entities,” said Ina Forrest, who throws third on Canada’s Paralympic team. “We just didn’t have the zen of curling today.”

Para snowboard makes PyeongChang debut

A beautiful sunny day greeted the Para snowboard team at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre for the first of two Para snowboard medal events of PyeongChang 2018. Para snowboard cross was the first event for the Canadian team, with the discipline making only its second appearance at the Paralympic Winter Games. Canadians came flying out of the gate during the qualification runs, with all seven snowboarders making it through to the 1/8th final heats.

PyeongChang, March 11, 2018 – The Canadian Paralympic Team will be going for more medals at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games on Monday, with several opportunities to cheer Canadians on to victory. 

Canada 10-0 winners over Italy in PyeongChang


 
Canada’s Para Hockey Team earned its second shutout victory in as many days with a 10-0 win over Italy at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games Sunday night in Gangneung, Korea. In its two games played, Canada has outscored its opponents 27-0. 
 
-    Ben Delaney’s (Ottawa) hat trick led the way for the Canadian squad who scored three times in the first period and added four more in the second on the way to the victory.

Kurt Oatway gets downhill redemption with super-G gold


Alana Ramsay nabs bronze 

PYEONGCHANG, KOR (March 11, 2018) — Para alpine skier Kurt Oatway made the ultimate comeback by winning Saturday’s super-G event at the Paralympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. Following a disappointing eighth-place result in the men’s downhill event the day before – a race he was favoured to do well in – Oatway refocused and fought his way to the top of the podium on Friday to win gold. Teammate Alana Ramsay did the same in the women’s race, clinching bronze.
