Jamoi Anderson

Jamoi Anderson joined the Canadian Men’s Sitting Volleyball team in 2012 and plays primarily as an “attacker” role. A multi-sport participant, Anderson was initially skeptical about playing sitting volleyball but it wasn’t long before he started to excel in the sport.

In 2008, a severe viral infection had put Jamoi Anderson in hospital and in a 26-day coma. While saving his life, the treatment left the athletic 23-year-old with gangrene in his left foot and made the decision to have his leg amputated below the knee.

Anderson helped the Canadian sides to consecutive bronze medals at the Toronto 2015 and the Lima 2019 ParaPan American Games.

Away from sitting volleyball, Anderson launched a program entitled “LIVEable” to help share his story and hold sessions for the students to be able to participate in adaptive sport activities and show them that everyone can “LIVEable”.
