Mark holds designations as a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Investment Manager, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and Accredited Investment FiduciaryTM. . In 2011, he obtained his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Mark's insights into corporate governance and strategic planning are invaluable to clients who lead private businesses, corporations and foundations, especially at key transitional times.
Mark and his wife Jennifer’s young son Alex has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA Type-2), a genetic neuromuscular disease caused by a missing protein in the muscles. In Alex’s honor, they created The Starratt Family Foundation to advance education and research in neuromuscular diseases. Mark serves as a Trustee. Among his other community and philanthropic endeavors, Mark was the Founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Banff Sports Hall of Fame for over six years. This organization recognizes individuals who represent sports and mountain leisure excellence in the categories of Athlete, Builder, Pioneer, and Achievement.
