Jim Westlake


​Jim Westlake is a retired bank executive with more than 35 years in the financial services industry, most recently as Group Head, International Banking and Insurance, Royal Bank of Canada and a member of the bank's Group Executive, one of nine executives responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of RBC. He has particular expertise in corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, strategic transformation and organizational restructuring.

Before joining RBC in January 1995, Jim spent 19 years with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Jim has been a Director on the Board of the Canadian Paralympic Committee since 2006, and a Director and Vice President since 2010.

Jim has a long history of service to community and charitable organizations, including roles as Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and General Campaign Chair of the United Way of Peel Region.

Currently, he sits on the boards of the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Oakville Hydro, and is Chair of the Canadian Bankers Association. Jim graduated with a diploma in business administration from Loyalist College in Belleville and a Master of Business Administration degree from Queen's University.
