Vanessa Murby

With over a decade dedicated to sports, six years in the education sector, and more than seven years in design, Ness Murby can easily be described as versatile. Born in Melbourne (Australia), she has spent the majority of her life living abroad and travelling widely within Asia, Europe and North America.

It is Murby’s drive, and welcome acceptance of a challenge, that has made her a world class athlete ranked in the top eight in the world in four sports (discus, javelin, shotput and powerlifting). She also represented Australia in goalball between 2005 and 2007, powerlifting since 2009 and athletics since 2013.

She is the IBSA women’s powerlifting world champion and has broken world records at the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 World Championships and Games. Murby’s 2014 athletics season saw her break the Canadian F11 javelin record at the 2014 Nationals after having only started competing in the event in March (4 months earlier).
