Tyler Mrak

The experience Tyler Mrak gained in 2014 helped him earn a spot on the Canadian team competing at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games. The visually-impaired swimmer reached four S13 finals at the Speedo Can Am Swimming Championships. He was second in the 200-metre individual medley and 100-m backstroke plus third in the 100-m freestyle.

Mrak gained valuable experience in 2014 by competing for Canada at the Pan Pacific Para-swimming Championships in Pasadena, Calif. He was one of the youngest swimmers on the team at age 16, but still reached five finals capped by a bronze medal in the S13 100-m breaststroke. He was also fifth in the 400-m freestyle, 100-m butterfly and 200-m individual medley and sixth in the 100-m backstroke.

Mrak was one of three Surrey Knights swimmers to make the Parapan Am Games team for Toronto, along with Adam Rahier and London 2012 Paralympic Games silver medallist Nathan Stein.
