Samuel Charron is already an important cog on the Canadian 7-a-side football team despite being only 17-years-old. Charron has gained valuable international experience over the last couple of years and would love nothing more than to lead Canada to the Paralympic Games.
Charron was a member of the 2015 CP World Championship squad that placed 10th. He scored two goals in the tournament as Canada earned a win and two losses in the round robin then strung together two wins to advance to the ninth place match which they lost 5-3 to Scotland.
A career highlight for Charron was in 2012 when he was named the MVP at a 7-a-side tournament in Spain at which Canada won the gold medal. He was only 14-years-old.
Charron started playing soccer at age four and progressed through the local leagues in the Ottawa area as a youngster. It was while playing with the Cumberland Cobras that he was recognized by national 7-a-side officials and invited to a training camp.
