Director

Rem Langan has been a member of Board of the Canadian Paralympic Committee since joining as the Director, Finance in 2011. Rem currently chairs the Board’s HR committee and was part of the search committee for hiring the CEO in 2013.

A father of five, Rem experienced the Paralympic Movement during the 2010 Vancouver Games and was incredibly impressed with the dedication and passion demonstrated by the athletes, staff and volunteers. Having previous experience managing Olympic relationships in his role as Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald's Restaurants, Rem realized the importance of ensuring that Canadians embrace the Paralympic movement with the same fervour and support given to the Olympics.

Rem joined McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited in 1979, following three years with advertising agency Needham, Harper and Steers in both Toronto and Sydney, Australia. Prior to becoming President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities in 2002, and past Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Rem held various roles within McDonald’s Marketing and Communications teams across Canada, Europe and Russia. His last position with the company was Chief Marketing Officer.

In February 2002, Rem became President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities. In this role he was responsible for creating the vision and strategic plan for the charity as well as the development and execution of all internal and external fundraising initiatives. Included among these initiatives was the creation of the McDonald's 10 Cent Happy Meal program, which since 2004 has raised over $75 million in Canada alone for Ronald McDonald House Charities and is now an international fundraising platform for McDonald’s. He was also instrumental in creating a strong partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities and the 14 Canadian Ronald McDonald Houses.

Rem holds a BA (Honours) in Physical Education with a Minor in Business from the University of Western Ontario and has his own consulting company.
