Rio 2016 Media Accreditation Request

September 9, 2015

Deadline: 14 September, 2015

Dear Media,

365: that's how many days are left until the first start signal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. In 365 days, thousands of paralympians will have the opportunity to realize a cherished dream: defending their country's colours, achieving the extraordinary and the unimaginable, and inspiring us all.

Chantal PetitclercAs chef de mission for the Canadian team participating in the 2016 Paralympics, I sincerely hope you will be interested in joining us in Rio to cover the games and convey the dreams, stories and emotions of the Paralympic games to all Canadians. Through your efforts, our athletes will be able to directly touch their hearts with their athletic prowess, of course, but also with the human side of their achievements.

Without your support, my athletic career certainly would not have been the same. And for this reason, as a mentor and leader of a whole new generation of athletes, I would like to remind you of the importance of your support. I'm appealing to you today so that you can complete your application for accreditation before September 15, and you can do it online!

Through your coverage, our athletes will become an emblem of our nation and will thrill us all with the highs and lows of their adventures.

Canada has always dominated the paralympics, making us a world leader for both the talent of our athletes and for our country's serious approach to developing our movement.

You can rest assured that the Canadian Paralympic Committee will do everything it can to facilitate your work in Rio. We will welcome you and give you exclusive access to the athletes, their coaches and their most inspiring stories. In addition, since the CPC owns the broadcast rights for these Paralympic Games, it will give all Canadian media unprecedented access to images of the events. And since there is no big time zone difference between Rio and your city, communication with your local team will be easier.

Nothing brings people together like sports, seeing an athlete stumble and rise again more determined than ever, a nation unified in hope and love to support its protégés-and you are the link between them.

We look forward to welcoming you as part of our accredited media delegation in Rio de Janeiro, on September 7, 2016.
