Message from Todd Nicholson,
2018 Chef de Mission, Canadian Paralympic Team
At my first Paralympic Games competing as a member of Canada’s Sledge Hockey team, the support network for parasport in Canada was very small. I remember looking up into the crowd for my parents in Lillehammer and finding them very easily among the few fans. In those days, the Paralympic movement didn’t have sponsors or donors supporting our team and very few Canadians had the opportunity to experience or even watch parasport.
Fast forward to competing in Vancouver in 2010 when I struggled to find my friends and family in the incredible crowds that came out to support Team Canada. With the next three Paralympic Games taking place in Asia it will be even more important for our athletes to know that they have the support of Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
I am passionate about Connecting Canadians across the country though para sport. From the volunteers who are the life blood of grassroot para sport to parents and grandparents who never miss a competition to the hometown fans who cheer our athletes every step of the way, we each have a part to play in the Paralympic story.
Donate and show your support for today’s athletes and help create a legacy of para sport across this country for all.
