Community Update: From the CEO's Desk

September 24, 2014

Karen O'Neill, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic CommitteeThank you to everyone who made the Canadian Paralympic Committee Congress and AGM such a success- 264 participants over the four days of meetings and events which included our coaching and HPD sessions, Ontario Legacy Partners First Contact and Awareness meeting, Sponsor Summit, CPC Board and Committee meetings, launch of the National Fundamental Movement Skills (Which at this time has an enrollment of 159 schools with a reach of over 87,650 children), the CPC Athlete and Coach awards and our Congress/AGM.

Our goal was to create a place and space for sharing information amongst us, to have discussions and debates on how we can align our leadership and work as a community; and focus our efforts on creating a World Leading Paralympic Nation by 2022.

As we referenced several times throughout our meetings, clarity of our plans and pathway to 2022 is critically important, as is our individual and collective commitment to support the shared priorities.

In order to keep the dialogue going, there will be a number of next steps:

  • Please take a few minutes to review all of the information in the AGM/Congress downloadable files ( and share the information from the meetings with your respective teams so everyone can better understand the core ideas and plans;
  • As we work our way through the plans, we will be providing updates to you on an ongoing basis- so you are aware or the developments across the priority areas, and can also provide input as required;
  • Mark the next two memberships calls (December 17, 2014 and September 28, 2015) and the November 2015 AGM/Congress dates (November 27-28, 2015) on your calendar to ensure your ongoing participation in the dialogue.

Thank you again everyone for your participation and leadership in making the dialogue so vibrant at Congress/AGM 2014.

We look forward to working together!
