2011 Women's U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships Press Conference April 12, 2011

(St. Catharines, ON) On April 12, 2011, Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Brock University will co-host a press conference to draw the teams for the competition pools for the upcoming Women's U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.  The draw will take place at 11:00AM in the Sankey Chamber at Brock University.  The tournament is scheduled for July 15-21, 2011.

Who:
President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation Maureen Orchard will host the team draw. Attendees will include: 

  • Team Canada Head Coach Michael Broughton (Toronto, ON)
  • Team Canada Athlete Corin Metzger (London, ON)
  • Additional dignitaries to be determined

What: The eight competing countries will be placed in either Pool A or Pool B, which impacts individual matchups and during the tournament. When: Tuesday April 12th at 11:00AM after which Athletes/Coach/Dignitaries will be available for interviews

Where: Brock University – Sankey Chamber

The eight participating countries are Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the United States.

The first-ever Women's U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships is a milestone event in the ongoing growth of wheelchair basketball around the globe and forges a legacy of unprecedented opportunity for young women in sport. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation event is co-hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Brock University.
