14 Memories of 2014: Canadians tackle silver in wheelchair rugby

Canada maintained its number-two world ranking in wheelchair rugby this year, earning the silver medal at the world championships held in Denmark. The Canadians beat the number-one Americans in the semifinal before finally being figured out by Australia in the championship match. Canada’s Zak Madell was named the tournament MVP.

This month, join us in revisiting memorable moments for Canadian Paralympic sport in 2014. The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games and the Commonwealth Games were the high profile events for Canadian para-athletes in 2014. But as is the case with their able-bodied counterparts, Canada’s high performance athletes with a disability travelled around the world to various competitions including World Cups and world championships and enjoyed plenty of success.
