Meghan Montgomery

Meghan Montgomery competed in both the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Paralympic Games in the Leg/Trunk/Arms mixed coxed four (LTAMix4+) crew. She also won a world title in the same event at the 2010 World Rowing Championships. Overall she holds four world championship medals, won between 2006 and 2011.
Montgomery retired from competitive sport following the London 2012 Paralympic Games. She now teaches mathematics and coaches rowing at Shawnigan Lake School, on Vancouver Island. Montgomery returned to competition in 2015 and has worked her way back in to the crew that qualified for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games by winning bronze at the 2015 world championships.

Although originally from Winnipeg, Man., where she attended the University of Manitoba, Montgomery relocated to rowing’s Mecca of Victoria, B.C., to train on a regular basis at the national training centre on Elk Lake.

Montgomery says: Although I have won many medals and have been the first to achieve many things for Team Canada in para-rowing, this past year has been my biggest highlight. Coming out of retirement, achieving personal bests and being part of a growing and dynamic group of para rowers has been both the most challenging and rewarding months of my rowing career.”
