Former national team cyclist Audrey Lemieux is following in the path of her idol, Olympic cyclist Lyne Bessette, as a para-cycling pilot to an athlete with a visual impairment. Lemieux is scheduled to pilot Robbi Weldon at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
For the two World Cup events in 2015, Lemieux was paired with Shawna Ryan. They won a bronze medal in the time trial at the Défi Sportif in Montreal, posted four top-10 finishes on the World Cup para-cycling circuit in Europe and added two silvers at the Canadian Championships.
At the 2015 World Championships, Lemieux joined forces with Robbi Weldon, who was the London 2012 Paralympic Games road race gold medallist with Lyne Bessette. Together Lemieux and Weldon won the silver medal in the mixed time trial at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and added a bronze at a World Cup in South Africa. At their only World Cups together in 2016, they posted two top-five finishes.
Lemieux was a competitive road racer for 12 years and joined the para-cycling program in 2014.
