Jean-Sébastien Lapointe

Jean-Sébastien Lapointe has enjoyed plenty of success at the provincial level, has made some noise nationally and is now headed to his first big international assignment at the Guadalajara 2011 Parapan Am Games.
Last year he won three gold medals at the Jeux du Québec and this year added two more victories at the Can Am Championships, which allowed him to earn a spot in the Parapan Team.
Jean-Sébastien started swimming competitively in 2009 and he found it was big challenge to race against established swimmers in his disability category. He currently trains six times a week and the focus is always on the next competition. He hasn’t set specific goals for the Parapan Am Games, but would like to close the gap on his opponents. Jean-Sébastien says sports have allowed him to surpass himself and that his disability is only a small part of who he is.
The highlight of his career was lowering the Canadian record in the short course 50-metre backstroke.
