Kennedy Pasay

Kennedy Pasay's Para-swimming career took another step forward this year as the 14-year-old not only took home six medals from the Western Canada Summer Games, but also earned a berth on the Canadian team for the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

At the Western Canada Games she collected a medal in every event she entered including gold in the 50-metre freestyle in the S9 disability category. Those Games were one of the three major swim meets Pasay attended.

Pasay, who started swimming at age six, credits her improvement with attending three national development camps under national team coach Craig McCord, who provided recommendations to herself and her coach Matt Bowkowy to help her improve.

The Grade 9 student, a forearm amputee, also competed at the 2009 Canada Games.
