Martin Dubois

Martin first started playing boccia in 1997, at age 26. That very same year, he was named Canadian champion when he took home two gold medals at the 1997 Canadian Boccia Championships. Some of his other accomplishments include a gold medal at the 2009 CPISRA Boccia Americas Cup and a 6th place ranking at the 2010 CPISRA Boccia World Championships in Lisbon, Portugal.
Martin acquired his disability in 1987 as a result of a diving accident. His mother is the one who encouraged him to get involved in sport and Martin credits her for being the most influential person in his sporting career. From day one, she has believed in him and has shown continuous support.
Martin’s goal for the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara is a top-three finish and he is training hard to get there. In addition to his national team training, Martin is a member of the boccia club Les Dragons Rouges Outaouais. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, travelling, camping and watching movies.
