Sam Danniels

Sam, who was born in Toronto, Ontario, now calls Whistler home.  In 2005 Sam sustained a spinal injury in a mountain biking accident but because of his athletic background he moved rapidly into the alpine skiing using sit-ski.

A member of the Canadian Para-Alpine Development Ski Team since 2008, he finished fourth in downhill on his first IPC World Cup start during the 2009 IPC World Cup finals in Whistler. Sam also participated at a Paralympic Games for the first time at the 2010 Winter Games.

Sam is an ambassador for the Rick Hansen Foundation, a volunteer with the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program and in his spare time he teaches other people with a disability to sit-ski.  In 2009 he was a recipient of the Premier’s Athletic Award.
