Robert Hughes

Robert Hughes began competing in 1998 after being introduced to athletics by the president of a club in his area.
At the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, he placed fifth in the men's discus and men's javelin. He did not compete in Athens.
He comes from a family with a long history in Olympic/Paralympic sport. His great grandfather was a member of the men's water polo team at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany; his grandfather was the head official for athletics at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal; and one of his aunts was Canada's Chef de Mission for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Hughes brings a positive attitude and 100% effort to training and competition. His toughest hurdles as an athlete are getting through injuries and balancing school with sport.
He is currently studying tourism and travel at Sheridan College
