Hervé Lord

Hervé, who plays center and wing, is the veteran of Canada's sledge hockey team. As a member of Team Canada since 1991, Hervé began playing sledge hockey in 1987 and has participated in many championship games, establishing himself as one of the game’s top play makers. He has participated in five Paralympic Games: 1994 Lillehammer, 1998 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, 2006 Torino, and Vancouver 2010. He earned a bronze, silver, and gold medal over his Paralympic sledge hockey career. He also has an additional silver medal from the 1998 Paralympic Games in 100m short-track sledge racing.
Hervé’s right leg was amputated above the knee after a car accident in 1983, but that never stopped him from competing as a high performance wheelchair athlete in track, road racing, tennis, and basketball. A talented all-round athlete, Hervé has competed in numerous international events including the Berlin World Track Championships, where he set the world record in the 4 x 100m with the Canadian team.
His experience in sledge hockey is extensive and he has played in just about every major tournament throughout his 18 year career, collecting countless gold medals and MVP honours. In the 2007-08 season, Hervé was named as alternate captain and after his gold medal performance at the 2006 Paralympic Games in Torino, he was awarded the King Clancy Award for his outstanding achievement.
Hervé was born in St-Pamphile, Quebec in 1958, but now lives in Ottawa, Ontario where he works for Statistics Canada. His favourite NHL player is Mark Messier, while his favourite teams are the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators.
