Alexander Elliot

Alexander Elliot has established himself as one of the Canadian para-swimmers to watch leading into the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2015, Elliot qualified for both the IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and the Toronto Parapan Am Games. At the Speedo Can Am Para-swimming Championships he won the S10 100-metre butterfly, 100-m backstroke and 400-m freestyle while placing second in the 200-m individual medley.

In 2014, he earned a berth on his first Canadian team for the Pan Pacific Para-swimming Championships in Pasadena. He earned silver medals in the S10 400-m freestyle and 100-m butterfly as well as a bronze in the 100-m breaststroke. In the 100 fly race, he was second to compatriot Nathan Stein as both went under Benoit Huot’s national record.

In December 2013, Elliot collected four gold medals at the Can-Am Championships in Edmonton. He defeated the legendary Huot for a victory in the S10 100-m butterfly and also triumphed in the 100-m freestyle, 100-m butterfly and 100-m breaststroke.
